The problem
Launch deals are paid blind, in both directions, with no recourse.
Launch deals are paid blind
A token launch buys work from many people. KOLs post, developers build, designers draw, market makers quote, listing agents push. Almost all of it is paid on trust, in a direct transfer, before or after the work.
There is no standard way to tie the payment to the result. The result is usually public and on-chain: a market cap, a graduation, a volume figure, a listing. The payment is not linked to it.
Both directions fail
Paid up front
The project pays first. The KOL posts once and the token falls. The developer ships half the work. The market maker leaves after a week. The project has no claim on the money it sent.
Paid after
The project promises to pay after the launch. The work is delivered. The project goes quiet, renegotiates, or disappears. The provider has no claim on money that was never locked.
No recourse
Both sides are usually pseudonymous. Contracts on paper are not enforceable across borders for a few thousand HYPE. Reputation is the only enforcement, and it arrives too late for the person who lost the money.
What escrow changes
Arrha moves the money into a contract before the work starts. The payee can verify the earnest is locked before doing anything. The payer knows the money only leaves when the agreed condition is true, or when they accept the delivery.
| Without escrow | With Arrha |
|---|---|
| Payer trusts payee, or payee trusts payer. | Both trust a contract with no admin. |
| Payment is a transfer. | Payment is a condition the chain can read. |
| A dispute is a public argument. | A dispute is a deadline and a refund. |
| No record of who paid whom for what. | Every Deal is public, with its Terms and history. |
What escrow does not change
Escrow cannot judge quality the chain cannot see. For those deliverables Arrha uses Handshake mode: the payer decides, with a kill fee and a 72 h silence rule so neither side can stall the other.
